My Book is Here!

It's here at last.  Explorations in Photography is available at Amazon.

I've been working on this project for just about a year.  The result is a book that will help good photographers become better ones.  At 45,000 words and 240 illustrative pictures, I've covered a lot of ground, but I've tried to do it in a way that the book is a fun read, inspiring to look at, and really useful.

This richly illustrated how-to book helps good photographers become better photographers.  At 45,000 words and 240 illustrative photos, this book serves up a lot of information in readable, bite-sized chunks. In 40 short-to-medium length essays, the book covers photography from before the shoot to final editing. The book concludes with a bonus chapter on photo restoration.

Spiced with examples from the author’s adventures and experiences, Explorations in Photography is fun, informative, and stimulating. It’s also very readable.

To help readers get the shot, Explorations covers issues of motivation, safety, travel, and just plain asking for directions.

Other essays discuss story-telling in photography, how to use fill lighting outdoors, and how to shoot effective landscapes.  Many other specific situations are covered.

The book gives practical advice on sorting treasures from trash to save storage space, editing, workflow, and a detailed conception-to-published diary of a fine-art landscape. The book concludes with a “bonus chapter” on Photo Restoration.

The book costs $35.95, largely because of all the color pictures and Amazon's extortionate terms and conditions.  I hope you think it's worth it.  Here's the link:  http://amzn.to/OkrdKW

  1. I saw an article posted on this site: http://www.kehblog.com/2012/10/what-makes-good-panoramic-image.html?utm_source=+%24300K+Added+Inventory&utm_campaign=300k+just+added&utm_medium=email (KEH). I am soon going to do photography walkabouts in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD. I would like to hand them a copy of your article (which would also promote your book) as a handout to all the folks who will be taking my walkabout. I will be atking them to several spots where they will be taking panoramas. Please tell me if this is possible. I will give you full credit for writing it, and it might improve your sales of the book.
    Thanks

The idea behind comments is to open a dialogue with readers and followers. I invite comments that challenge my views, as well as those that are supportive, but personal rudeness is unacceptable on this site. Also, anonymous comments are no longer accepted for publication, though they will be read. If you're not willing to stand behind your words, perhaps you shouldn't write them.
