This time I saw the bee

About 10 years ago, when I was just starting to get serious about photography, I took a workshop with Boston photo artist Skip Schiel.  He sent us off to a garden, with instructions not to shoot the flowers -- just the play of light and shadow.  I got really into this and never saw the bee in the morning glory I was shooting until I downloaded the image to the computer.  It was a lousy shot, but the exercise taught me a great deal and was one of the reasons I eventually got serious about my work.

This morning I went about a mile from home to photograph a lovely white dogwood in bloom.  But this time I actually saw the bee!  And knew what to do about it. This sort of shot just fills my heart.  What a day!

Abstractions
