Nikon D800 /800e What's in the Box

Well, despite all I've read, and my place officially somewhere  near the top of the order line, I don't know what's in the box because it hasn't arrived.  Here's what I do know:  Nikon's D800 and 800e are magnificent cameras.  Are they as good as / better than current medium format cameras with digital backs in the 40 megapix region?  For outdoors and landscapes yes, for studio photography, probably not.

Here's what else I do know.  Nikon Tokyo (the mother ship) doesn't talk to Nikon_USA, at least regarding shipping plans, destinations, supply chain problems, technical problems, etc.  NOBODY talks to major distributors like B and H ... except their customers, who talk incessantly (and I am one) wanting to know "where's my camera?"

One other thing I do know, after many years practicing and consulting in organizational development and communications, is that failure to communicate openly up and down creates havoc and makes enemies.

So what's with the battery recall problem just announced by Nikon?  The ones that overheat and can start fires?  Is that why cameras that use them are in short supply?

Again, I don't know.

But here's Pandora, and Nikon (USA and Tokyo) are just opening the box!  Could that be an EN-EL 15 making all that smoke? Look out, trouble's coming!
